Structural changes in the financial markets have left synthetic instruments uniquely poised for growth.

The increased focus on counterparty credit risk has led many asset managers to diversify exposure to counterparties, and has also motivated many to shift existing sources of financing away from traditional service providers.  Asset managers have increasingly looked to synthetic prime brokers for access to emerging markets, leverage and as a way to increase tax efficiency.

Additionally, changes to European regulatory directives have facilitated investment in synthetics, allowing to be used more liberally in investment portfolios.  Other asset managers - including pension funds - have also entered this space, recognizing that the market access and leverage that synthetic instruments provide can be integral in enhancing portfolio performance.

Euromoney Seminars and Global Investor incorporating ISF magazine have leveraged their extensive experience to bring you Synthetic Finance Conference - a unique new event that will bring together synthetic prime brokers, hedge funds and asset managers to discuss how the use of synthetics can facilitate market access.

Key topics to be addressed at the event include:

  • Leveraging synthetic products to access emerging markets
  • How will synthetics be impacted by the push towards central clearing of OTC derivatives?
  • FIN 48 and the resulting regulatory implications
  • How has the financial crisis and de-levering impacted the demand for synthetic products?
  • Navigating the regulatory environment for synthetic products in China
  • What has been the impact of the increasing popularity of ETFs?
