Pre-2009 there were plenty of profits to be made in China but after increased scrutiny over banks’ books, questions raised over operating practices and the ongoing debate over speculating vs. hedging, the goalposts have changed and international players will have to make sweeping changes to their operations if they wish to continue to establish themselves in these markets.
