John Frangos

John Frangos is a consultant in Tilleke & Gibbins’ dispute resolution group. He assists clients on complex disputes in Thailand and Vietnam, with a focus on aviation litigation, anti-corruption investigations and compliance, business crime, and general commercial disputes. He leads the firm’s regional aviation disputes practice and co-leads the firm’s anti-corruption practice group.
John advises aircraft and engine leasing companies on repossessions and debt claims against defaulting airlines. He also regularly assists airlines, airports, insurers, and other aviation-related entities on disputes in Thailand and Vietnam, including breach of contract claims, liability/accident cases, and labor and employment matters.
With over ten years of experience in Thailand and Vietnam, John brings strong knowledge of local law, business practices and customs. He also has a deep understanding of the region’s political and economic landscapes which shape the legal environment that foreign investors must navigate.
John serves on the Corporate Responsibility and Anti-Corruption Commission for the International Chamber of Commerce – Thailand. In that capacity he has assisted the Thai government by providing his expertise and comments on draft anti-corruption laws. He also sits on the Executive Committee of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Thailand branch, as well as the Aerospace Council of the American Chamber of Commerce, Thailand. He writes and presents regularly on legal issues in Thailand and Vietnam.
John is admitted to the New York bar.
