Andrew Gunther

Andrew Gunther serves as a Managing Director for Darby, a global emerging markets private equity firm, and has responsibility for Darby's infrastructure investments in Latin America. Previously Mr. Gunther worked for fourteen years in two different stints for the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank, in various positions doing equity and debt investments in Latin America, Africa and other parts of the world. From 2007 until 2010, Mr. Gunther was the IFC's Country Manager for Brazil based in Sao Paulo. From 1997 until 2002, Mr Gunther worked for Emerging Markets Partnership (EMP), an emerging markets fund management firm. At EMP, Mr Gunther was a Managing Director and led the telecom & media investments for the AIG-GE Capital Latin American Infrastructure Fund, L.P., a US$1 billion fund dedicated to Latin America sponsored by AIG and GE Capital. Mr. Gunther also worked for five years at Marine Midland Bank , a division of the Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC), in New York and in Santiago, Chile as the bank's representative for the Southern Cone. Mr. Gunther has an MBA in finance from the Wharton School and a B.A. in economics from the University of Michigan. He speaks fluent Spanish and Portuguese.
