Tim Murphy, Partner, McMillan LLP, Toronto, ON. Tim's practice focuses on transactions with a public component with a particular emphasis project finance, infrastructure, energy and on public private partnerships. In a wide array of areas, including energy, transportation, natural resources and social infrastructure, Tim brings extensive experience in the public sector and combines it with expertise in project finance and construction law. Tim has assisted a number of First Nations and other aboriginal organizations in developing aboriginal owned and/or operated infrastructure assets. Formerly Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister of Canada, his public sector experience also includes serving as Chief of Staff to the Finance Minister of Canada, as a Member of Provincial Parliament in Ontario and as a strategic advisor to governments at all levels. Tim is ranked in Projects by Chambers Global and PLC Which Lawyer. Canadian Legal Lexpert and IFLR 1000 rank Tim as a "Leading Lawyer" in Project Finance. Tim was also nominated by in-house counsel and his peers to appear in the 1st edition of the Guide to the World's Leading Banking Finance and Transactional Attorneys in the field of Project Finance. Tim is currently Co-Chair of his firm's Project Finance, Infrastructure & Energy, Government Relations, Power and Aboriginal Law Groups and is Adjunct Professor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, teaching on public-private partnerships.
