Ed started his career in project finance working with the South African merchant bank, Senbank, in Johannesburg covering sub Saharan African industrial and mining groups, later moving into the liquidity and reserve management area. In 1993 he moved to London to take up a position with C.Hoare & Company, a private client bank, to develop a liquidity and risk management system whilst simultaneously managing the bank's day to day liquidity and interbank operations. In 1995 Ed joined HSBC in London in the project and export finance area and has been with HSBC ever since. During this time he has held positions with the bank in London (twice), New York (twice) and Tokyo, and has led financing teams for a number of landmark transactions, including a debut Samurai bond for Pemex covered by Japan's NEXI, and the ECA tranches of Klabin's recent Project Puma financing in Brazil. Ed is currently based in New York heading HSBC's Americas Export Finance business. He holds an MA (Hons) degree from Cambridge University, United Kingdom. Ed's interests include sailing and European history.
