Andre Loes

Head of Macroeconomic Research, Latin America

André Loes is HSBC's Chief economist for Latin America. He joined HSBC as Brazil Chief-economist in August 2008. Between 1994 and 1995 he has been an advisor to the Foreign Trade Secretary of Brazil (Foreign Trade Department/Ministry of Industry and Foreign Trade). From 1995 to 1997 he led the economic department of the National association of investment banks. From 1997 to January 2000 he has been Chief-economist for Banco Bozano, Simonsen. From February 2000 to March 2008 he has been the Brazilian Chief-economist for Banco Santander, where he also led the equity department since 2005 (equity research, brokerage house and custody services). André has graduated in economics at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, and has a PhD degree in economics, from University of Paris. André is currently the director of economic affairs of the Brazilian Banks Federation (Febraban).
