Dr. Rouben Indjikian

International Consultant, Lecturer, Commodities & Trade Finance

Dr. Rouben Indjikian is a renowned expert on international trade, finance and commodities. He is a consultant and lecturer in commodities, trade finance and energy at Webster University Geneva. Dr. Indjikian is organising conferences on energy and other issues at Webster, and is a frequent speaker, moderator and chair at prestigious conferences and seminars on commodities, energy, trade finance and other topics.
Dr. Indjikian’s long and distinguished career includes nearly 30 years at UNCTAD, Geneva. As an economist at UNCTAD Rouben covered various aspects of international trade, finance, transition economics and oil markets, while as a high-level official, developed and led work programs on trade finance, e-commerce & e-finance, and commodities. At UNCTAD he founded Information Economy Report in 2000 and Global Commodities Forum in 2010, prepared key UN and UNCTAD documents, set agendas and initiated ministerial conferences, organised and spoke at trade and development boards and expert meetings, led capacity building projects and advised government and corporate leaders.
Rouben was instrumental in initiating and implementing UNCTAD business facilitation and institutional building projects in the areas of trade finance, e-commerce & e-finance, and commodities, both globally and regionally, and, in particular, in Africa, Middle East and CIS. After retirement from UNCTAD he continues to give his policy and management advice and consult on above issues.  
Dr. Indjikian drafted many UN reports, authored chapters in books, as well as articles in prestigious academic and business journals. He also spoke at press conferences and gave interviews to trade and finance journals. Rouben authored one of the first books on the role of OPEC in the world economy, published in 1983 and based on his PhD thesis prepared and defended in 1979 at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO) in Moscow.
