Herman W. Weiss has a successful 30 year track record in the international Insurance market. When ACE acquired Chubb he was appointed President of the Andean Region. In his new role he is responsible of Chubb’s operations in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile and Argentina. Before ACE’s acquisition Herman was Chubb’s Latin American Zone Officer, with executive responsibility for all Legacy Chubb subsidiaries in the region (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico and Colombia), and was at the same time President of Chubb Chile and Chubb Argentina. He joined Chubb in 1995 to start a new subsidiary in Argentina, becoming President and CEO at Chubb Argentina. In that role he developed the strategic, operational and financial plan. As part of the expansion plan, in 1998 he led the acquisition and integration into Chubb of a specialist Surety Bonding company. This was one of the few acquisitions made by Chubb and the one with the highest return on investment. He started his professional career at La Buenos Aires Compañía de Seguros in 1985, a subsidiary of the Leng-Roberts group. He trained initially as P&C underwriter and in Insurance Management. Among his responsibilies was to set up and become the first CEO of “Assurance General de France – AGF” in Argentina. He was Placement Manager and later partner and COO at Ayling Barrios & Cía. His achievements led Euromoney/Reactions to name him for the last 3 years one of the 50 leaders of the Latin American insurance industry. Before joining the insurance industry Herman worked for Waste Management International for 5 years in different positions in Australia, Malaysia, Chile, Spain and the United States. Herman Weiss is a Board _Member of the Argentine Insurance Association (AACS), Treasurer and Executive Committee Member of the Latin American Business Council- Argentine Chapter (CEAL), Member of the Board at the Association for the Defense of Children with Neurological Conditions (AEDIN), Member and former Director of YPO–WPO Argentina, and Member of the Academic Committee for the Insurance Postgraduate at the University of Salvador (Buenos Aires). Education He completed his secondary education at Harding High School - St. Paul, Minnesota (US) and the Argentine High School equivalents at San Jose School, specializing in Physics and Mathematics. He pursued undergraduate studies at the school of Economics at the University of Buenos Aires, and he attended a number of training coursed in insurance, reinsurance, administration and leadership. This included the Global Executive Program at Columbia, and the Executive Leadership Program at Wharton. He is a regular speaker on Leadership, Administration and Insurance issues at professional and academic forums in Argentina and the US.
