Julian Craughan is a partner at law firm Hogan Lovells. He focuses on structured finance and capital market transactions. Over the years he has advised key participants (including lenders, arrangers, originators and swap providers) on these transactions in the United Kingdom and across Continental Europe. His current areas of focus include, SME and online or marketplace lending securitisations. Regulatory developments have been high on the agenda in both the securitisation and derivatives markets over the last few years and Julian has advised, spoken and written widely on the regulatory developments affecting these markets. This experience is underlined by Julian's ranking as a leading individual for securitisation by Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners. His experience includes advising: • the senior lender in relation to its marketplace lending warehouse, involving a €40m senior loan secured on loans to SMEs to be originated through a marketplace lending platform in Continental Europe; • a wholesale investor on investments in trade receivables and consumer loan receivables originated through online platforms; • a UK marketplace lender on the structuring of its loans for a wholesale investor; and • the equity investor in relation to the establishment of a £100 million warehouse facility and equity investment in a UK second charge mortgage lender
