Matthew Williams

Matthew Williams is a partner and Global Co-Head of Power at international law firm Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, based in the London office. His practice focuses on transactional and regulatory work in the energy sector with a particular focus on renewables and conventional power. He has extensive experience in project finance & development, M&A and energy trading matters. As a former in-house lawyer with National Power plc Matthew has been involved in the UK power sector for over 15 years and has established a market leading practice including representing parties involved in the majority of large capacity power station disposals in the UK over the last three years. Recent examples include acting for M&G Infracapital on its investment in Bioenergy Infrastructure Group and representing Czech energy company EPH on its acquisition of the 400MW Lynemouth coal-to-biomass power project in Northumberland. He acts for a broad range of clients including project developers, energy utilities, infrastructure funds, investment banks and private trading houses.
