Miguel Bolinaga is the Country Manager for AES businesses in Panama (AES Panamá, AES Changuinola, and more recently Gas Natural Atlántico), post he holds since June 2013, after acquiring vast experience in the regional and global energy sectors, especially in the electricity commercialization and distribution areas. His advancement in the energy sector has been marked by his innovative profile and his strategic thinking with an integral perspective of businesses and organizations. He is competent and capable of forming and leading high performance teams in achieving challenging and complex goals in the organization. He also possesses high analytical capabilities to understand, structure, and develop logical and creative solutions in response to the requirements of the organization. Before his arrival to Panama, he served as Commercial Corporate Director and later as Vice President of Electric Market and External Relations for AES in El Salvador, where the company holds 80% market share in electricity distribution services through four distributing companies serving more than one million end costumers. Miguel was responsible of developing strategic policies that allowed achieving maximum benefits in the energy Exchange budget in the electricity market (80% of the company’s expenses) and guaranteeing customer satisfaction for Large Costumers (55% of the company’s demand) with the purpose of maintaining and providing depth in costumer-company relations. In El Salvador, Miguel managed a wide corporate portfolio including, besides large customers, electric market, regulatory affairs, special projects, corporate communications, external relations and new businesses. Miguel also led approaches to the main business associations, chambers and public entities in with the goal of tightening bonds and creating permanent communication channels. From 2002 to 2007, Miguel served in La Electricidad de Caracas, in Venezuela, a former AES subsidiary, which provides energy services in the city of Caracas, to more than 1.2 million end costumers. Miguel joined EDC as Customer Services Director, where he managed 25 commercial offices with more than 300 payment facilities, online banking, and an in-house call center with more than 80 stations and 300,000 monthly calls Later he held the post of Commercial Director, where he developed, implemented and followed through commercial policies related to billing, printing, notification and collection to more than one million clients, and led the creation of the infrastructure for obtaining ISO 9001 certification for these processes. Before entering the electricity business, Miguel was part of the Venezuelan Armed Forces, holding several ranks. Miguel earned his bachelor’s degree in administration and logistics from the Venezuelan Naval School. He also holds a degree in computer engineering from the Venezuelan Armed Forces Higher Learning Institute, a master’s degree in information systems development from Simon Bolivar University, a graduate degree in customer experience from the El Salvador Higher Institute of Economics and Business Administration, and a certificate in business finances from FEPADE, in El Salvador.
