Leah Nelson Guay

First Nations Power Authority (FNPA)

Currently, Leah serves as a founder and the Chief Executive Officer of First Nations Power Authority of Saskatchewan – a newly created business model for leading the development of First Nation-led projects. Through her work at FNPA, the organization has signed a 10-year partnership agreement with SaskPower, has supported the development of a 36MW biomass facility with the Meadow Lake Tribal Council, has commissioned three solar demonstration projects for the purpose of collecting solar performance data in southern Saskatchewan and is currently working to deploying an additional 630MW of renewable power in Saskatchewan and Alberta. Leah is a KPMG Alum and brings to FNPA more than 15 years of experience as a management consultant, specializing in technical start-ups and Aboriginal economic development. Both of these specialities require taking a unique approach to maximizing outcomes with limited resources. She holds a BSc in Land Use and Environmental Science and an MBA from the University of Saskatchewan, where she specialized in business strategy, marketing and finance and its application within the natural resource sector. She is a member of Métis Region of Alberta, Region III and was awarded the Métis Youth Entrepreneur of the Year in 2004.
