David Tyeryar

David Tyeryar is responsible for planning and oversight of NCDOT’s finances, as well as researching new revenue sources to meet the state’s growing transportation infrastructure demands. During his tenure as CFO, he successfully negotiated the financial close of the I-77 managed lanes and the Monroe Expressway projects. He continues to issue strategically placed debt offerings to advance North Carolina’s transportation plan. Before joining NCDOT, Tyeryar served as Deputy Secretary and CFO for the Virginia Department of Transportation, where he helped implement a number of funding reforms to help address that state’s challenges. He helped pass Virginia’s first comprehensive transportation funding plan in 27 years, which provides more than 13,000 jobs and $9.5 billion in economic investments. He also established the office of Public Private Partnerships, which resulted in more than $5 billion in projects, using less than $1 billion in state funds. Tyeryar also previously served as Budget Director and Accounting Division Manager for Prince William County, VA. Tyeryar’s professional experience includes working in Public Accounting in Auditing, Consulting, and as a Tax Advisor. Tyeryar is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Roanoke College. He also has served on the faculty of Northern Virginia Community College as an adjunct professor.
