Director Representative

Carolina España, Director and Representative of CAF – Development Bank of Latin America in Colombia is responsible of managing the Institution’s business and activities in the Country. From 2010 until July 2015 she was Director of Institutional Funding. Her responsibilities included funding from international financial institutions, multilateral agencies, as well as managing the relations with development institutions and governments, for the purpose of attracting financial resources for the region. In addition, she managed the A/B Loan Program (syndications) and loan portfolio distribution. She was also CAF’s delegate to the International Development Finance Club (IDFC). From 2008 until 2010 she was head of CAF’s financing activities in international and local capital markets as well as for designing CAF’s bond issuance strategy in terms of cost optimization and investor diversification. From 2004 until 2008 she was head of the Financial Policy Unit responsible for the design and strengthening of financial policies, managing the relationship with credit rating agencies and investors, as well as supporting CAF’s activities in the international capital markets. From 1997 until 2004 she was in charge of Business Relationships with Banks, Multilateral and Official Financial Institutions. In addition, she also handled the issuance of short‐term capital market products. Since 1993 until 1997, she worked for CAF’s Treasury Department where she was involved in liquid investments and cash‐flow management. Prior to joining CAF (1990 – 1993), Ms. España worked for Price Waterhouse as a consultant in treasury management systems. During her tenure, she participated in various projects in prestigious Latin American companies. Ms. España holds both a Master's degree in Finance and a Systems Engineering degree from Universidad Metropolitana in Venezuela. She was born in Caracas, Venezuela.
