James Geldenhuys

Head of Aircraft Finance

James Geldenhuys, Head of Nedbank CIB’s  Aircraft Finance business, has 34 years’ experience in South African banking. He has spent the last 26 years working in structured finance and has held senior positions at both ABSA and Nedbank, with particular experience in international tax structured finance and transactions in the oil industry across Africa. Since 2001 he has had a special interest in aircraft leasing and, drawing on his considerable expertise in the airline industry, established Nedbank’s specialist Aircraft Finance business in 2008. He also served for five years as a non-executive director on the board of a regional airline, which provided him with the relevant insight to the inner workings of an airline. As such, James is well placed to comment on issues facing the local airline industry.

James holds a BCom Honours (Investment Management), MCom (Business Management) and a H.Dip.(Tax) from the University of Johannesburg, as well as a GEDP from Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS).  He lives in Johannesburg and is married with three sons.
