Event Overview

Update: Please refer to Word agenda for updated timings for the Global Export Finance Conference and for the German Export Finance Day 2009.

The Global Export Finance Conference is the premier international networking event for all those involved in export credit and ECA finance across the globe.

Despite the economic downturn, in October 2008 the event registered a record 400 people – proving the robust nature of this vital industry.

These included ECAs, financiers, local banks, exporters, emerging market borrowers, development banks, lawyers and credit insurers from all four corners of the world.

2009 is to be a crucial year, as agencies are asked to step up and fill the funding gap that will keep the world trading. So for the second year in a row, and to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the event, we will be back in Berlin - the political powerbase of Germany, the largest manufacturing country in the world.

As the world begins to see the green shoots of an economic recovery, it will be export and agency finance that will lead the charge.

28th October 2009
Radisson Hotel, Berlin

As the largest exporting country in the world, Germany has been harder hit than other countries by the global economic downturn. Decreasing demand for goods, restricted access to finance and pressures on working capital and global supply chains pose complex challenges for exporters, export credit agencies and financiers alike.

However, challenging financing conditions are driving innovation in new deal financing, with refined products and new solutions on offer from ECAs, agencies and financiers.

In this context, Euromoney Seminars and Trade Finance Magazine are proud to partner once again with Euler Hermes to host the German Export Finance 2009 Day. This one-stop shop will focus directly on the major pressing issues facing the German export finance industry, and deliver unparalleled networking opportunities with this industry’s leading figures.

Key topics to be discussed include:

The SME perspective: Analysing assistance available for the backbone of the German economy

Doing business through the crisis: Overcoming challenges in export financing

Stepping up to the plate: Assessing official support for exports and German exporters

Structural changes in the German banking system and impact on export financing

Focus on environmental risk assessment: A help or a hindrance for German exporters?
