Santiago studied telecommunications engineering in the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. He started his professional career as a consultant, working initially for Accenture and later for Everis, where he assumed the responsibility of partner in 2003. During his 14 years of experience in consultancy, he has participated in complex projects in different business sectors, including transportation. From 2006 he worked for CaixaBank group, where he participated in the set-up of the group IT subsidiary (Silk).
 
In 2012, Santiago joined Abertis where he has had different responsibilities. In May 2015, he was appointed  CEO of Emovis, and from May 2017, he is the Director of the Abertis Mobility Services division, which comprises Emovis and Eurotoll.
 
Emovis is the Abertis’ tolling services and technology subsidiary Drawing on over 40 years of experience, Emovis has implemented more than 180 projects around the world and is currently present in over ten countries, with three Toll Solutions competence centres  - in the US, France and Croatia -, and five toll management concessions – in Ireland, UK, Canada and Puerto Rico -, which manage over 150 million transactions annually.
 
Eurotoll is a leading European Electronic Toll Service “EETS” provider for Heavy Goods Vehicles assisting transportation companies in the management and control of their toll and tax expenses. Eurotoll network covers 55 000 km of toll roads as well as tunnels, bridges and secure parking sites in 16 countries.
