Richard Timbs

Senior Director
Global Infrastructure Hub

Richard has worked in the infrastructure sector for 20 years and developed detailed knowledge and experience across a variety of roles in the private sector investment and government. His experience in the infrastructure sector has been gained through working on both greenfield and brownfield projects in Australia, Asia, UK/Europe and North America and incorporates significant exposure to numerous infrastructure asset classes including tollroads, seaports, airports, and power.

Before joining the GI Hub, Richard worked in senior commercial roles for the New South Wales Treasury where he was involved in major transactions involving energy utilities, a desalination plant and led the AU$5billion 99 year lease of Port Botany and Port Kembla to the private sector in 2013.

Richard’s earlier private sector work was focused on infrastructure investment. From 1997-2008 he worked in Macquarie Group’s Global Infrastructure Investment Division, gaining broad transactional and major project and asset experience through leading acquisitions as well as running investment funds and directly managing investments. Richard also worked briefly at Leighton Holdings (now CIMIC) focusing on the PPP investment activity of Leighton group companies.
