Martin van Leeuwen started his career with Investment Bank MeesPierson in Amsterdam. After the takeover by Fortis Bank (now ABN Amro) he joint several departments related to Financial Institutions, Trade Finance/Forfaiting, Syndication and finally Global Export and Project Finance (GEPF). At GEPF Martin was responsible for ECA backed Trade Finance Facilities and Supplier’s and buyer’s credit on emerging market (especially Eastern Europe, Africa and South East Asia). When one of his biggest clients request him to work for the company to finance hospitals in Africa he took the opportunity to expand his activities and skills related to all financial aspects of Trade Finance and international funding. He worked on several projects from the early initiating phase up to closing of the financial facilities. After this, he was asked to work for Thales Netherlands as Head of Treasury and Export Finance. He was responsible for Treasury, Export finance, international Tax and Insurance. He did this for four years before Thales International send him to Singapore to set up the Thales Asia Hub for International Financing for Thales Group. Currently, Martin is responsible for all international trade and export finance of Thales for North- and South Asia.
