Jon Sharp

Engine Lease Finance Corporation

Jon Sharp is Group President and Chief Executive Officer of the Engine Lease Finance group of companies, headquartered in Shannon, Ireland and with offices in Tokyo, London, Boston, Madrid and Singapore.

He founded the company in 1989 and as CEO developed ELF into the world’s largest aero-engine leasing company unaffiliated to any engine manufacturer. The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Mitsubishi UFJ Lease and Finance Group.
 
ELF owns approximately 300 fan jet engines of all manufacturer types and has served over 130 airline and MRO customers with both short- and long-term leases.
 
Within the ELF group is Inventory Navigators LLC (“INAV”) which is a parts company based in Chicago, providing used serviceable material to airlines and MROs worldwide.
Jon holds an Honours Degree in Business Studies and has a distinction in International Law.

 
Jon spent over 20 years with Rolls-Royce plc., before he founded ELF in 1989.

  • In 2004, the Institute of Transport Management presented him its ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ to “Honour his outstanding contribution to the air transport industry”.
  • In 2010 the Royal Aeronautical Society invited him to become a Fellow of the Society.
  • In 2014 Aviation Economics magazine presented him with its lifetime achievement award, naming him as ‘The Face of Aviation’.
He is a member of the board of trustees of Airlink, the aviation-related charity providing disaster relief worldwide.
