Simon Collins, a Partner at global law firm White & Case, leads the firm’s asset finance practice in Asia-Pacific. Simon advises lenders, operating lessors, manufacturers and airlines in a wide range of aircraft related transactions, including sale and leaseback, debt financing and structured (tax-based) leasing transactions such as JOL and JOLCO. He has been leading a wide range of high-profile cross-border aviation transactions. Recently Simon represented BNP Paribas in connection with the financing of Airbus A321 aircraft for VietJet – marking the first-ever JOLCO transaction completed for any Vietnamese company. He also advised Avianca in connection with a loan guaranteed by UK Export Finance (UKEF) to finance one Boeing 787-8 aircraft, which was structured as a JOLCO. In addition, Simon also has significant experience with restructuring and has been involved with advising clients in connection with airline insolvencies and aircraft /engine repossession. Simon has been ranked for several years as a Band 1 Leading Lawyer for Asset Finance in Japan by Chambers Asia-Pacific.
