Taiwo Adeniji

Director and Head, Financial Institutions and Advisory Services

Taiwo Adeniji is currently Senior Director, Investments Group at the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), a multilateral specialist infrastructure financing institution headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, where he has responsibility for the institution’s investments in oil & gas, mining and transport infrastructure. Taiwo has had over 25 years of post-graduate and extensive professional and managerial experience in several areas of banking and finance. He has deep knowledge and extensive experience with infrastructure policy issues, as well as the analysis, evaluation and financing of infrastructure projects. Taiwo has led the efforts at providing financial advisory and structuring services for AFC’s investments in infrastructure projects, including supervising the management of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s US$2 billion Power Intervention Fund in Nigeria. Recent transactions included the award-winning US$900million Kpone IPP Project in Ghana, as well as the innovatively-structured US$360million Hakan Peat-fired IPP project in Rwanda. Taiwo had previously worked for about 12 years until 2007 with the African Development Bank (AfDB), focussing largely on infrastructure investments and financial sector development.
Taiwo’s academic background is in economics and finance. He is a Honorary Senior Member (HCIB) of The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.
