Ms. Veronica Lizzio is an economic and financial analyst focused on sustainable infrastructure services in Latin America and the Caribbean. She is currently supporting the IDB in the design and creation of a facility to finance and manage blue and circular economy investments in the Caribbean. She is helping to design a strategy, define a project portfolio, and recommend optimal financial instruments for innovative, bankable projects that help minimize waste, use ocean resources available to islands, and improve climate resilience.
Her experience in the Caribbean also includes supporting geothermal development in the Eastern Caribbean states, assessing the costs and benefits of investing in resilience in energy infrastructure, and measuring the impact battery storage can have on RE penetration and electricity costs. Ms. Lizzio also developed sustainable energy plans for 13 Caribbean countries, which included economically viable interventions in renewable energy, energy efficiency, alternative fuels, and electric vehicles. She quantified investment needs and conducted cost benefit analyses to determine the optimal sustainable energy plan for each country.
Ms. Lizzio holds a Master of Arts in International Economics and International Relations from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, SAIS. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University. Ms. Lizzio is a native English and Italian speaker, and is proficient in Spanish.
