Event Overview

Competing in an era of Consolidation

In partnership with:

Co-hosted with Leeham Company LLC, the Southeast Aerospace & Defence Conference 2019 will take place in Charleston, South Carolina over April 14th-16th 2019.

Bringing together suppliers from across the tiers, OEMs, consultants, financiers & local government representatives; the event will unpack the ways in which OEMs & suppliers are looking to the future and building strategies based upon the constantly changing landscape of defence & aerospace production in the Southeast.

Featuring 11 dedicated networking opportunities including a tour of the Charleston 787 FAL, the event emphasises open and informal discussion between presenter and participants, enhancing the understanding of what the future of aviation production will look like, with a focus on:

  • How competing in an era of Consolidation impacts supply chains
  • The continuing transformation in production
  • New supply Chain Requirements
  • Workforce development challenges
  • Impacts on commercial, Defence, Space and Corporate Aircraft

Participants will also receive a complimentary pass to the Inaugural Southeast Aerospace & Defence Networking Dinner.

About the conference

Consolidation of the aerospace industry sped up in 2018.

  • Airbus acquired majority interest in the Bombardier CSeries program.
  • Boeing and Embraer Commercial are creating a new company.
  • Boeing has acquired or partnered with companies in the supply chain, increasing vertical integration.
  • UTC acquired Rockwell Collins, which acquired B/E Aerospace.
  • There are international implications, especially with Boeing-Embraer.

How do suppliers compete, supply and defend against consolidate and even becoming targets of consolidation? Should they defend against consolidation, or seek it out? Do they have a choice?

Giving Back
The conference is supported by the Charleston Regional Development Alliance South Carolina Council on Competitiveness, which are active in promoting STEM education and workforce development. We believe in “giving back” to the community. Working through the CRDA and SCCC, we will invite high school students to attend the conference to hear about the aerospace industry, interact with attendees and have opportunities to ask questions of speakers and delegates about preparing to work in aerospace. We invited representatives who will attend the conference to volunteer to meet with students for short, 10 minute meetings to give back to the community and nurture aerospace students.
