Duncan John Ritchie

Mr. Duncan Ritchie joined The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ in 2015 as Head of Power, Project Finance. He has more than 23 years’ experience in investment banking, finance and project development in the energy and infrastructure sectors.

Prior to joining BTMU Duncan was CEO of Aequero a boutique advisory firm from 2005 to 2015 and before that held senior roles in project and structured finance / project finance advisory at ANZ Investment Bank and Société Générale.

He has advised a European utility company on market entry strategy in Indonesia; advised on Sumsel 9&10 project; acted as strategic PPP advisor to BAPPENAS; advised Ministry of Finance, Indonesia on establishment of a SOE / risk fund for geothermal development; advised MPI and ADB on establishment of a PPP Project Development Facility (PDF) in Vietnam; advised the DOF, Philippines on management of government contingent liabilities in respect of PPP transactions; led multiple project finance advisory assignments, including in respect of a biomass project development platform in Thailand, the Phu My 2-2, Vietnam and Nam Theun 2, Laos PDR.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Western Australia. He has authored a number of papers for UNEP and ADB on early stage project development and investment in the renewable energy sector.
