My career has been dedicated to fixed income electronic business development and market structure strategy for the past 15 yrs. I have gained comprehensive market experience working for a major e-trading platform (MarketAxess), several global dealers (Barclays/Lehman and Goldman Sachs) and building innovative products (GSessions, corporate bond IOIs). At MarketAxess, I was fortunate enough to be a part of a team that establish the largest corporate bond trading system in the world. What made my time at MarketAxess invaluable was being witness to the process of changing market behavior through technology. At Barclays/Lehman, I transitioned into a business management. The goal of my work was to help the business adapt to change through the proper application of technology. A key accomplishment for my team was the implementation of the Code Street Teamwork system. This first of its kind CRM platform was eventually adopted by global credit sales and trading. While at GS, I helped develop Goldman’s electronic trading desk for corporate bonds by designing a trading system that was eventually adopted as the global system for all Goldman credit traders (bonds and CDS). In addition to internal system development, I led an effort to develop the first of its kind corporate bond block trading platform, GSessions. GSessions was a fantastic personal learning experience and has showed me what is possible for the future of the institutional corporate bond market. Currently, I am the founder and CEO of ViableMkts, a fintech strategic consulting firm that provides advisory services to financial institutions. Through ViableMkts I am able to significantly expand my learning process by assisting multiple dealers, buy side clients and vendors with the pursuit of their innovative financial technology goals. In addition to leading the ViableMkts team, I publish a weekly newsletter covering bond market development (Friday Newsletter) and teach a course on e-trading for NYIF.
